ÿþKATEESACKHOFF.com "Ask Katee" Part One Transcription by Sarah Vauzelle Hi Katee, I have noticed that every time you have written the word "SPank" you have capitalized both the "S" and the "P". I was just wondering if there was some deep meaning behind that ? Do you capitalize the "SP" in other words or is it just a SPank thing ? AUspank Katee: That's just the way I write. I think that sometimes I capitalize some letters and sometimes I don't capitalize... it's just, it's all over the place. My mother would be very disappointed cause my English skills are severely lacking and I think one of the prime examples is that I put two capital letters in the front of SPank. Not on purpose, just a habit. Katee, I'm so sorry about Lost and Foud, from what I'd heard about it the world will be missing out on some quality awesomeness. After bringing some truly fantastic characters to such vivd life, what do you want to do next ? Red42 Katee: Thank you, first of all. I loved "Lost & Found". I loved the script, I thought that Chris Levinson did a phenomenal job with it. When I saw the final product, I kind of knew that it wouldn't get picked up. I've said this to my manager that - and excuse my language for youngsters, but it's true - if shit doesn't blow up, they're not gonna pick it up. So I think that audiences today need a little more stimulation a little bit quicker. So, ours was very slow paced and had some good moments and a great cast but it just didn't work out. So, you know, that happens. For those who don't know, I'm doing "24" now, which was just a fantastic choice for me. I love the show, I think it's fun and I think that after the experience of the pilot and being so let down, I needed to do something that felt familiar to me, and because I've watched "24", that was it. And also, after working on it, I couldn't have picked a more similar situation to "Battlestar" to go into. There's such a family there and it's fantastic, I'm having a great time. I hear that your actual character is the opposite of what you play in "Battlestar Galactica". What were your inspirations to create Kara Thrace ? Did any of the other actors help you to form her character ? nauticalcaptain Katee: I'm assuming we're talking about the pilot (Lost and Found) character, which is interesting because in television I think there are little pieces of you in every character that you play. However I'm a lot different than Kara Thrace. There are sides to me that are very similar to her but for the most part, very different from her. I tried to play her as strong and screwed up and independent as possible, but you have to understand that I had five years to create this character, so if you watch Kara from the beginning and Kara at the end, she is very different. It just happened to work for this character, but for the most part with characters you usually try to keep them more on the same line, but with her I was able to go all over the place. That character is all me, I didn't get any help from anyone -- I didn't want any help from anyone. That's where I'm similar to Kara, I'm extremely independent. I don't like advice unless I solicit it. So, Kara's all me. So I hope I didn't disappoint. Katee, You are an incredibly beautiful woman. Any plans to follow in Tricia (Helfer)'s footsteps and pose for Playboy ? jl469 Katee: (laughs) Listen, in the whole hip-huggers jeans phase, so many people already needlessly saw my ass that I don't think anyone is dying to see it again. And I made this rule a long time ago that I've just decided to live by, I can't say it will always hold true, but the rule is this: if I cannot sit down and watch it with my father, I've gone too far. So I don't think Playboy's in the future for me. However Tricia looked phenomenal though and if I had her body I might do it.
